Status message: The Parents as Teachers program at the ELCAC seeks to promote literacy within the homes of families that participate in our program. One way that we do this is by bringing free books to the homes of each child that we serve on a monthly basis. The types of books that we use are infant, toddler, and preschool books designed for children ages Birth-5 in new or "like new" condition. Mission Statement of the Early Learning Coalition: The Early Learning Coalition works to serve children ages birth to 5, and their parents, to provide excellent early care and education opportunities, recognize parents as teachers and meet special needs in order to assure that children are ready for school. Mission Statement of Parents as Teachers: To provide the information, support and encouragement parents need to help their children develop optimally during the crucial early years of life. This mission is met by providing monthly home visits to families enrolled in the program. Parent Educators provide age appropriate materials, activities, and books to the families.
