Dawn (USA: CA) (2007/12/19): This is a bookcrossing book and is registered there.
Jennifer (USA: LA) (2008/06/26): I did not like this book. If you intend on reading this - try not to think of the original story when you do - it simply does not blend. In other words, Wicked does not flow with the Wizard of Oz. For me, it was simply too unbelievable that this is the story of the Wicked Witch and how she became such.
Browncoat (USA: IN) (2008/07/10): This is a wonderfully written book if you can get past the first two chapters. Once it gets moving, it is very hard to put down. The book gives a very interesting story of what could have been going on in Oz where Glinda is on the "bad" side & the "Wicked" Witch was on the "good" side. A very interesting tale that's an examination of government, quests for power, & psychology. I highly recommend this book... You'll never watch "The Wizard of Oz" in the same way again.
Irena (USA: IL) (2008/12/29): I seriously thot before I started reading this book that it would be much more fantasy than it is. It is so political that it is a wonder that this book survives. I kept reading it, hoping it would develop into something more than a rant on the political forces at work in Oz at the time of the witch's childhood and early life. No such luck. I actually got rid of son of before reading it I was so disappointed in this one.
Chris (USA: MO) (2009/01/07): Yuck. Boring with unlikable characters that do mean things. Don't bother reading, go see the musical instead.
sylvia (USA: CA) (2009/03/01): Its really good. A bit slow in parts but still a good one to read.
Cathbird (Canada) (2009/08/25): I LOVED this book and have passed along the copy to a friend to read and am now looking to mooch another copy to put on my shelf permanently. By the end of the novel, when Dorothy shows up and the plot of the original begins to unwind, I was so caught up in the Witch's life that I was cheering her on while dreading the inevitable outcome I knew was coming. Such a tragic character, I loved her from the start!
Amanda Lee (USA: FL) (2010/02/08): I thought it was pretty boring and didn't really connect with the characters. Sort of wanted to hurry the story along. Didn't even finish it because I got so bored.
Michelle (USA: AR) (2010/08/15): I tried reading this book a couple years ago. I hated it SOO much. I quit it halfway through and gave it to a secondhand bookstore.
Andrea C (USA: DE) (2010/10/25): I enjoyed the first 2/3 of the book. After that, it really started to drag. I had to force myself to finish reading the last portion; mostly because i'm stubborn and hate not finishing books. Interesting perspective on the story tho. I give him credit for trying to put a different spin on a classically "evil" character. Probably would not recommend this to my friends.
