i don't think this one was nearly as good as the first--in fact, i wasn't into it at all until the end. however seeing as how you won't have to pay $20 for it, it's not a bad investment of your time if you liked A Great and Terrible Beauty.
think of it like this: sequels of movies tend to not be that great, esp. when compared to the initial movie, yet you can't resist watching the sequel anyway; or reading it, in this case.
