Rebemdee (USA: CA) (2006/08/18): I found Isabelle's story more interesting, and starting skimming Ella's story to get back to Isabelle. Although it is easy enough to piece together the puzzle, the story line felt undeveloped and gimmicky. This is not my favorite book by this author. erinalisha (USA: GA) (2008/01/26): i read this because my favorite book is "the giver," also by lois lowry. however, i found this book to be a great disappointment compared to the one i cherished. perhaps someone else out there would like to try it (and maybe enjoy?) without the high expectations, i might have found this book to be ...okay. Magelet (USA: CA) (2008/02/12): one of the most disturbing books I have ever read, it is also a wonderfully told, powerful book. Mary M.
