I LOVED this book, as all of Rosmary Edghill's. It is a well-researched historical romance (in the truest sense of the word) based on the witch-hunter, Matthew Hopkins (a 17th century mass murderer!) who ha a meteoric career between 1645-47 'finding' witches (and by torture getting them to confess) and making a pile of money by doing so. Into this turbulant time, a modern day practitioner of Wicca, Diana Crossways is plunged. Her instant attraction to a mystery man, who is in some way attached to Hopkins' entourage, despite her serious disorientation forms the romance. Warning: not for the faint of heart. This book contains graphic descriptions of torture.
